November 20 — Universal Children's Day
20 November 2025

On December 14, 1954 the UN General Assembly met and adopted a document recommending that countries establish Universal Children's Day in 1956. It was later decided to celebrate the holiday on November 20. This date was chosen for a reason: on this day in 1959 the Declaration of the Rights of the Child was adopted and the Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted in 1989.

Today is an important occasion for government agencies and public institutions to once again highlight the vulnerable situation of children and the need to fully protect their rights and interests.

Every child has the right:

* To life and health care;
* To live and be raised in a family;
* To communicate with parents and other relatives;
* To express their opinion;
* To be given their first name, patronymic, and last name;
* To enjoy comprehensive development and respect;
* For housing;
* For education and professional development;
* For recreation and leisure
