II International Scientific and Practical Conference "The Origin and Development of Ideas about Human Rights and Freedoms"

On December 10 the III International Scientific and Practical Conference "The Origin and
Development of Ideas on Human Rights and Freedoms" was held in Sukhum.
This year's conference focused on the relevant and significant topic of "Human Rights and the
Penitentiary System: Issues of Correction and Resocialization of Convicts." The event brought
together leading experts, academics, practitioners, and government representatives to discuss key
aspects of human rights compliance in prisons and to identify effective ways to correct and
successfully reintegrate convicts into society. The conference was opened by the Human Rights
Commissioner of the Republic of Abkhazia, Anas Kishmaria. The Human Rights Commissioners
of the Republic of Mordovia and Arkhangelsk Oblast also delivered welcoming remarks, as did
the Deputy Head of the Inspectorate of the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner of the
Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
During the plenary session, T. A. Potyaeva, the Human Rights Commissioner of Moscow,
presented on the topic of "Assistance in the Resocialization of Convicts and Citizens Released
from Prisons in Moscow." E. N. Musaeva, a representative of the Office of the Ombudsman
(Akyikatchy) of the Kyrgyz Republic spoke about the specifics of the correction and
resocialization of minors and women serving prison sentences under the laws of the Kyrgyz
Republic. The III International Scientific and Practical Conference "The Origin and
Development of Ideas on Human Rights and Freedoms" aims to become a platform for the
exchange of best practices, the development of new strategies, and the strengthening of
international cooperation in the field of human rights protection and the improvement of the
penitentiary system.
